Save the Date for the next KLAS Users' Roundtable: TBT, Staff Picks, & Popular Subject Headings to be held at 3 PM ET / Noon PT Thursday, July 9, 2026!

Do you have special collections, such as Staff Picks, Local Interest, or Book Club lists, and if so, how do you promote them and make them available to your patrons? Are you promoting TBT titles or sending a local TBT replacement? On Thursday, July 9, a roundtable of KLAS users discussed how to manage and make use of these types of subject headings and special collections.

Lee Anne Hooley (Worcester Public Library, Talking Books Service), moderated this session, and Maureen Dorosinski (Florida Braille and Talking Book Library), James Gleason (Perkins Library), and Karen Wall (Worcester Public Library, Talking Books Service) presented.

Hi there, just a follow up. If you are checking out the most recent Selections, please note the annotations are longer because the TBT did not have books available in all the subjects - there was NO U.S. History, for example. Usually I like to have 25 books, and these were only 20 ans 13 titles long. Also, you'll note earlier editions were in 14-point font. So, stay tuned to see what comes next!

Another resource from NLS in the past was Creating an Annotation. I have it in a binder in my office, and I have it saved as a Google PDF. It used to be available on the Network Services Site, but not anymore. I will send it to Katy and see if it can be included! Good tips start around page 43.

Enjoy your day,
Maureen
