Birds of a Feather Sessions
Birds of a Feather (BoaF) sessions give participants the opportunity to exchange ideas in a group discussion setting. Topics range from making the most of KLAS features to exploring broader service-related ideas. These sessions are not formal presentations with slides or software demonstrations. Instead, the format is casual and open. Moderators launch the discussion and keep the conversation on topic but may not have workstation access. Participants are asked to come prepared to share and learn. Registration is not required, but is recommended. Space is limited by room size.
Workshop Sessions
Workshop sessions are presented by a Keystone instructor in a small group setting. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions throughout the session and may have limited opportunities to try the function or task on their own. These in-depth presentations of particular KLAS features and functions will demonstrate the cause and effect of employing different tools through the use of slides, live examples, and customer experiences. Registration is not required, but is recommended. Space is limited by the number of classroom seats.
Seminar Sessions
Seminar sessions are presented by a Keystone and/or User presenter in a small group setting. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions throughout the session but only the instructor has workstation access. These in-depth presentations of particular KLAS functions or topics make use of slides, live examples, and customer experiences to explore the defined topic. Registration is not required, but is recommended. Space is limited by the number of classroom seats.

Do you have one for Hands-on sessions? Even though we aren't using the same format this year, it could give me some jumping off points.

Hands-on Training Sessions
Hands-On Training sessions allow participants to use a workstation to independently explore a specific function, task, or feature in KLAS. After a brief introduction to the topic, participants will proceed through guided practice worksheets. Keystone trainers will be available to answer questions and provide feedback. Registration is required. Space is limited by how many students an instructor can effectively teach. If all the slots are filled, waiting list order is determined by your pre-registration request date. Session confirmations will be sent after Friday, March 27.

Great ideas don’t come in a vacuum. This workshop gives you a chance to share your ideas and hear how others approach similar issues. Hopefully, you’ll go back to your library and have at least one more idea that will inspire you. Whether you are a library director or a circulation clerk, exchanging ideas can an open format gives us the chance to learn from others.
Reviewing Your Nightly Setup
Do you often wonder if Nightly is REALLY serving your patrons and helping get them the materials they want? Do you sometimes wonder if Nightly is the name of the Helper Elf that comes in after hours and performs great feats of book delivery magic? Come hear from KLAS staff how you can harness the power of this mighty Helper Elf and take the guess work out of serving patrons after hours and overnight consistently.
Collaborative Cataloging Seminar
With budgets ever more stretched and new materials coming through the pipeline to your library, the cataloging workload falls on smaller limited staff with less cataloging experience. Let Keystone staff and other seasoned KLAS users show you how Collaborative Cataloging can be the answer by leveraging the power of the KLAS User base. Rather than re-invent the wheel every time, we can share the load to get materials into our catalogs faster and serve ALL of our patrons better.

Dive into your choice of topics with introductory instructional videos, worksheets, and a Keystone trainer on hand to answer questions. Self-guided learning labs allow participants to explore KLAS at their own pace, with support as needed. Take your time exploring a single topic, or blaze through several as a crash course in KLAS! Space is limited by the number of workstations and how many participants the Keystone trainers can support.
Using WebOPAC with AT (Workshop)
The WebOPAC is a great way for patrons to select and order their own books… IF they can access it! We will use various types of Adaptive Technology to access the WebOPAC and discuss how best to help patrons use the OPAC no matter what AT they may be using.
OPAC Best Practices (Seminar)
There are many ways to customize the WebOPAC, but how do you decide? Discuss things you have tried, see examples of the possibilities, and learn what has worked well (or even what hasn’t) at other libraries.
