In response to NLS Operations Alert No. 21-17 regarding the move from EBONY magazine to ESSENCE and the addition of READERS DIGEST in Braille format we have taken the following actions to all KLAS Hosted and Self Hosted libraries.
We have modified your existing EBONY magazine KLAS Serial record (SER-EBN3 or SER-EBN4) to SER-ESS4 and changed the title to ESSENCE. According to the Alert, all active subscribers of EBONY will automatically be moved to ESSENCE.
We also added an additional Caption to the SER-ESS4 Serial record to accommodate BARD downloads of both new ESSENCE issues and, if available, past EBONY issues. For those libraries that had already added the SER-ESS4 Serial and SER-DIG1 record, we simply verified the Caption information.
For the new READERS DIGEST offering in Braille we added a new Serial record, SER-DIG1. We also added the appropriate Caption to accommodate the upload of BARD transactions.
