The Restore Deleted Patrons tool came up in the recent discussion on dealing with Error status Duplication Orders , so let's talk about it a little more...

When a patron record is Deleted in KLAS, it is actually just archived--hidden from the Find tool and most functions, but still present in the database as historical information. The Restore Deleted Patrons tool allows you to bring back these records, whether to re-activate them, to do additional cleanup, or to transfer their HasHads to another state where they have resumed service.

To Restore a Patron:
  1. In the Patron module, use the Tools menu to select Restore Deleted Patron.
  2. Enter your patron's name, Patron ID, or Barcode, then use the Filter button. Just like in the Find tool, these are "begins" searches, so First Name: John will return "John" and "Johnathon" (but not "Jonathon").
  3. Select the patron in the results table; some additional information (including birthdate and the City from their most recent shipping address) is displayed below to help determine whether this is the right person.
  4. Use the Restore this Patron button. The patron will be restored to the Patron Module, with their most resent Status (usually Withdrawn).
  5. If you are re-activating the patron, be sure to review all tabs to ensure that their information is updated appropriately. In particular, be sure to remove the Inactive Reason from the Preferences tab, and check that the PIMMS tab has successfully synced their Active status. If the PIMMS tab is still showing a Deleted status after re-activing the patron and using the "PIMMS--sync now" function (Functions menu--Profile), please contact Keystone Customer Support. If you are just doing some cleanup, be sure to re-delete them when you are finished.

Note: Some libraries lock the Tools menu to select staff; if you don't have access to this menu, you'll need to ask your local KLAS administrator (or Keystone Customer Support) for assistance.
