Problem:
We are running into more patrons that only want books under a certain length. Right now, our books are cataloged only with 3 length headings.
-Small 0-5:59
-Medium 6:00-17:59
-Long 18:00 and greaterWe were considering adding some additional headings, (just by Hour). But then realized if we keep adding more of those for people, we’ll be adding an additional heading for every hour a book has. Then we’ll have to add exclusions for all those other lengths above a certain length for patrons.
Suggestion:
MARC Tag 306 lists the length of a tittle in “hhmmss” format. Is it possible to utilize that information into a tab under preferences, or anywhere? I know a lot of the DBG's (Marrakesh) aren't coming with the 306 field though. Maybe have a length range default, for patron’s that don’t have a preference
-000000-999999
If a patron says they don’t want anything over 12 hours, we can then change it
-00000-125999

I think for now we might add a heading or two for some of the most common length restrictions patrons ask for.
