One of the features we'd like to see in KLAS is the ability to create a query, save it and then be able to change the variables in that query over and over so that we can reuse queries in an efficient way. This ability was available in KLAS version 5, but went away in version 7. It was one of those features our library used lots. This bit of new functionality could be very useful to libraries everywhere.

Would you see this a working rather like the save search options in Book Search - where you can save a set of fields and parameters, but it just loads those options on to the screen and you can make changes from there?

That's kind of what I envision. Some method of saving the fields used and the parameters. Then you just enter in the codes, numbers or other variables to get your results. Right now if I want to recreate a query that I've used I have to take copious notes and save things to a text file so I can remember what a did, in terms of fields used, parameters, etc.. Then I have to start a whole new query from scratch using my notes. It takes some time to do this.
One other aspect I'd like to see is the ability to take this saved query and be able to export it for use by other staff. So that if I use a query for some purpose and someone else on staff has to perform a similar query they don't have to reinvent the wheel each time. They have a good model to use in order to form their query correctly.

I like the idea of being able to create and save query parameters. Is it possible to give them names like "All Active Patrons" or "Patrons Added in the Last Six Months"? This feature would save me a ton of time having to craft detailed queries for things like our Customer Satisfaction Survey call list. I could just pull up the same query I did last year, change the dates, and hit go.
However, I'm not as much of a fan of having saved presets for a query like book search. Since queries are so varied, you'd be constantly changing the parameters so much that having presets wouldn't help and may end up hindering. But starting from a blank query and then having saved parameters sets you can choose from is great.
