NLS is starting to send out DA2 machines. Here's what you need to know to be prepared:
There will need to be a DA2 equipment record in your system. If you do not have one, please let us know at . We'll get it set up so that you can add these machines in as you get them.
The barcodes of the machines will be in the format of DA2-[SerialNumber], rather than the Y1[SerialNum] and Z1[SerialNum] used for the DA1 and DS1 machines. We've gotten a look at the barcode plate on a machine and have discovered that this is a Code 128 barcode. Generally, when we set up barcode scanners, we disable the Code 128 as it is used for the large bulk-mail postal barcodes, and we didn't want anyone to accidentally scan those.
With this in mind, here are a couple of things you can do:

With this in mind, here are a couple of things you can do:
- Manually type in the serial numbers during the Receive process, then print new barcodes in the Code 39 format (used in the rest of KLAS). You could stick one of the barcodes on the machine itself and another on the shipping box for ease of processing.
- Temporarily enable the Code 128 barcodes while you are doing the equipment receive, then turn Code 128 back off, and print the Code 39 barcodes for the devices like above. Note that reprogramming the scanners is a fussy task--if you are leaning towards this option, contact us for info about enabling and disabling Code 128.
- Designate one scanner as the equipment scanner and only use it for receiving and processing machines (mark it in some way!). We'll walk you through setting it up to scan both the Code 128 and Code 39 barcodes.

Do we know if these will have the issue the DA1/DS!s had, where the barcode had to begin with something other than the model ID, DA2? DS1 barcodes begin with Z1, for instance.

They do not have this issue! They will be just DA2-[SerialNumber], no other letters or prefix.
