Hi all,
I wanted to know if anybody had to order a maintenance kit for their DOD printer. If so, could you give me feedback on what is it and how to use it?

We had to get a maintenance kit for our Lexmark MS725 a couple of years ago. It contains parts that need to be replaced every few years, mainly a fuser and roller assemblies. Make sure to order a kit that is compatible with the exact model of your printer. Lexmark’s site has instructions on how to determine the fuser type, which is the biggest / most important part. For MS725s the instructions are here: infoserve.lexmark.com/ids/ifc/ids_topic....mark_MS725&loc=en_US
Installing the components is more complicated than replacing a toner cartridge, but not much more so. It may seem daunting, but keep in mind that these kits are specifically designed to be used by regular office laypeople rather than professional maintenance technicians. There are stickers and markings on the inside of the machine showing how to open and access the internals, it comes with IKEA-style pictogram-heavy instructions, and there are videos posted by Lexmark on Youtube. Most pieces are made of black plastic, except for the specific parts that are supposed to be manipulated: Levers, handles, catches and such are in white or neon green that clearly stands out.
I hope this is the kind of information you're seeking, please let me know if you have any other questions.

At NY2A, we had to install a maintenance kit for our DOD printer back in May of this year. We actually had a staff member from our IT department come to install it but I had looked up the directions beforehand and the process did not look that complicated. Each maintenance "kit" actually consists of 4 parts, including (1) fuser assembly, (2) transfer roller, (3) media pick roller, and (4) separation roller. Each new part must be installed individually, after each corresponding old part in the machine is removed. There are some helpful videos on You Tube that can assist you with the process too.

Thank you Gabby for this information. I'm happy to know it's not that difficult to change. NY1A have an IT department at our location so I will definitely be utilizing their expertise on this.
