Hi there, I'd like to thank Katharina for helping me understand the differences in search methods, between query and book search. I wanted to be able to fill in all the blanks, so when books can be sorted in searches of any type to find the newest (or oldest!) published books.
Here is some of the conversation, and a query: The Pub Date searches both the pub year and the book was recorded. I picked two titles at random from your list and both had Alt pub years of 2024. In the catalog module you can query for either Pub Date or Alt pub date, but book search just looks at all the MARC tags with publication date info.
Query to find 9999 pub years:
Advanced Search
BibRec - KLAS ID - In - DB*, BR*
BibRec - Year Published - Equals - 9999
Yes, the pub date fills in automatically if klas can find the date in the MARC subfield that it looks for it in. I suspect the problem comes when the date is in [ ].
The date comes in the MARC record, in the 534 line.
BR024316 The complete plant based cookbook : 500 inspired, flexible recipes for eating well without meat
Pub Year: 9999
Look in the Marc Tab
Scroll to line 534:
=534 \\$pTranscription of:$cBoston, MA : America's Test Kitchen, [2020]$z9781948703376
and the year is in brackets, 2020.
I found 2,604 records.
Thanks, and have a great day!
Maureen
