Books in Series - two versions - and a Question was created by nancy
There have been several popular series that are now in two versions - the one that NLS recorded and the commercial audio version. Examples of this include the Harry Potter series and Outlander. The experience of reading the Davina Porter narrated Outlander, or the Jim Dale narrated Harry Potter series is different from reading the versions provided by the NLS narrators. As such, should these be considered different series?
Pros for a separate series - you could sign up a patron for a series, and ensure they are getting a consistent narrator
Cons for a separate series - you can't link the titles, so the HasHads for one don't act as HasHads for the other
If they are the same series, you would need to ensure that the series information is the same on both titles and that the titles are linked.
It's possible that additional series will be given this same treatment. As NLS moves towards additional commercial recordings, what would be the best option for patron service moving forward?

You can have two separate series codes and those titles can be linked. This forum doesn't let you use screenshots but just take my word for it <smile>.

That is true! However, the series assignment programs will get tied up in knots trying to serve the designated series and finding a linked title that isn't part of that series. Its best, if they are linked, to have everything the same.
