In this week's Key Notes post, we want to update you on the planning for the 2019 KLAS Users' Conference, which will be held in West Palm Beach, FL from June 3-6. We have already posted links to the conference registration form, an initial overview schedule, and conference location & accommodations information.

Conference Theme

Today we're excited to announce the theme of this year's conference! For the first time this year, we opened up the final selection of the theme to members of the KLAS Users' Group. We presented three choices as narrowed down by our committee members and, by popular vote, this year's theme is: Waves of Change

Call for Presentation Proposals

Now that the theme is decided, the Conference Program Committee is actively seeking proposals from those interested in presenting at the 2019 KLAS Users' Conference. Please review the following call for presentation proposals from Sue Walker and be sure to submit yours!

From Sue Walker, 2018 KLAS Users' Conference Host & Program Committee Member:

Make the 2019 KLAS Users' Conference an extraordinary learning experience by sharing your expertise and creativity with colleagues from other libraries that use KLAS.

The KLAS Programming Committee is accepting proposals for general and breakout sessions for the conference. We want to include information about new service initiatives, innovative ways to use KLAS, or how you train staff and volunteers to use KLAS most effectively.

Listed below are some of the popular topics captured from the 2018 KLAS Users’ Conference Follow-up Survey.

Some possible session topics:

  • Circulation
  • Duplication on demand
  • Equipment
  • The future of Service
  • KLAS Navigation and Functionality
  • Outreach
  • Programming
  • Queries
  • Reader’s Advisory
  • Staff Training
  • WebOPAC/Web Ordering

Proposal submissions should be emailed to Chandra Thornton (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and Andrea Callicutt (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) by Friday, December 14th.

Submissions must include:

  • Presenter’s Name & Contact Information (If submitting a group presentation, please list the program organizer / main contact.)
  • Session Topic
  • Working Title
  • Estimated session length
  • Brief Description of presentation including the main points to be covered and how they are supported by KLAS
  • Presentation format-general or breakout session?
