More tips for NLS Recall

As you select the items you will be returning to NLS and box them up, make sure that you are consistant about what status you put them in. One option is to use NAC/XESS or NAC/RCALL status to mark the copies selected to return to NLS. This makes it clear that the copy is:
  • Not available for circulation
  • Selected for return
  • Still in your library
The cassette XESS process is no longer used, so there won't be any conflicts in what NAC/XESS indicates. (However, note that the XESS report was not designed for Recall and is not the best way to get your cartridge count.)

Once you've filled up a box, use Batch Update Items to define a query based on the status (and other criteria as needed) to get an easy cartridge count, then purge the items. Purging them will ensure that their barcodes can be reused and remove them completely from the inventory of items in your library, keeping them out of any further counts.

As always, if you have questions or need a little help, give us a call or send an email to
