CC/PS - Load BARD Circulations - Add Run In Batch

As more patrons are using BARD, the reports from NLS are getting bigger and taking longer to load. Would like to be able to set up this to run in batch and get the results/errors emailed back to the user.

Our Librarian can already set the report to import overnight, so even if it is huge it doesn't interrupt our workflow or KLAS's performance during normal business hours. She didn't seem to think this feature was a priority, and liked the auto-email overdues a lot more.

So if this feature is already available in KLAS, maybe we just need an instruction sheet on how to do it. From what I understood in the past, the file has to be saved on the KLAS server to work with the batch manager. So unless she is starting the import before she walks out the door at night and letting it run overnight, there is no way to automate the process that I'm aware of. That would be a nice feature to have.

As best as she described the process to me, she can set a time for when the import runs overnight, so before she leaves she sets up everything to run at 10PM for example, and by the time she gets in the next morning it's done. I can have her email you the process. It's not a completely automated process, but it's pretty darn close.

The issue is that to use the batch manager to load BARD files currently you have to get the file that NLS sends you on to the KLAS server for it to process. Certain technically-savvy administrators at self-hosted libraries have been shown how to do this, but it is not as easy and straight forward process as we would like it to be, and it doesn't work for people who are connecting to the servers at Keystone. The proposed solution is to add the ability to upload the file to the server from the Load BARD interface and schedule it to run off hours.

Ah, I see. Then yes, adding the same functionality so everyone can run BARD stats overnight is a good idea. Sorry, I'm still learning all the little intricacies of KLAS. I'll have a lot of them down right before I cycle off the KDAC B)
